Private health insurance

Claim eligible extras with HICAPS

If your private health insurance includes the relevant extras cover, you may be able to claim eligible osteopathy, physiotherapy or remedial massage appointments using HICAPS at the clinic.

Your rebate depends on your health fund, level of cover and annual limits. Contact your insurer directly if you would like to know your expected rebate before your appointment.

Private health insurance and Medicare generally cannot both be claimed for the same consultation.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about fees, claiming and appointments.

Is the first appointment more expensive?

No. Our current osteopathy and physiotherapy fees are the same for initial and return appointments.

How long is an osteopathy or physiotherapy appointment?

Appointments generally allow approximately 30–40 minutes. The exact consultation time can vary depending on what needs to be assessed or treated.

Do I need a GP referral?

No referral is normally required to book a private osteopathy, physiotherapy or remedial massage appointment. A referral is required if you intend to claim through an eligible Medicare chronic-condition arrangement or certain third-party funding schemes.

Can I claim private health insurance?

If your policy includes appropriate extras cover, you may be eligible for a rebate. HICAPS is available at the clinic for eligible claims. Your individual rebate is determined by your insurer.

How much is the Medicare rebate?

The current Medicare benefit for eligible physiotherapy and osteopathy chronic-condition consultations is $63.40. With our current $130 consultation fee, the standard remaining gap is $66.60.

Can I use Medicare and private health insurance for the same appointment?

Generally, no. You normally claim either Medicare or private health insurance for an eligible consultation rather than both.

Do you accept American Express?

No. American Express is no longer accepted.

Do you charge a card surcharge?

No standard payment surcharge will be added from 1 October 2026.

Can I pay cash or by bank transfer?

Yes. Both cash and direct bank transfer are accepted.

What happens if I cancel late?

Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice may attract a $50 fee. Cancellations within two hours of the appointment or non-attendance may attract the full consultation fee.
